T.I.P. Engineers thrashes Italiano’s, 133-98

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Engineers bounced back in the PBA D-League last August 8, 2019 at the Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City, with a 35-point walloping of Italiano’s Homme Shoemakers. The Engineers now stand 3-1 with two games left in their schedule.

The T.I.P. Engineers showcased their prowess throughout the whole game, ending each quarter on top of their opponents. They finished the first quarter deadlocked against Italiano’s, 22-21 and started making leeway by closing the second quarter 66-50. The T.I.P. Engineers maintained the gap between them and their opponent by ending the third quarter with a 14-point margin, before finally pulling away with a whacking 35-point lead, 133-98, in the final quarter.

Despite not playing in the fourth quarter, Papa Ndiaye once again lead the Engineers with 29 points and 16 rebounds. Warren Calara’s 18 points and 6 rebounds, Lewis Pamasante’s 13 points, Bryan Santos’ 12 points, and Ivan Santos’ 11 points added to the team’s winning effort.

The Engineers’ performance against the Shoemakers showed their desire to get back on track after their defeat against the BRT Sumisip Basilan – St. Clare last August 5. Head Coach Sebastian “Potit” de Vera commented, “We were pleased with how we played. It showed that we were prepared and determined after a heart breaking loss in the game versus BST Simisip Basilan team. We made 133 points and got 89 rebounds in this game against a semi-pro team, a record performance for us. God is good, win or lose.”

“Coach Potit gave us a good game plan to follow and we played hard as a team,” explained Papa Ndiaye who was named the Best Player of the Game. Ivan Santos added, “We play each game for Coach Potit’s father who passed away before the D-League started.”
