T.I.P. Engineers blowout McDavid-La Salle Araneta in first PBA D-League game

The T.I.P. Engineers debuted in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup in strong fashion, blowing out McDavid-La Salle Araneta Stallions by 27-points in a 108-81 outing last July 25, 2019 at the Manila Paco Arena.

The Engineers came running right out the gates, ending the first quarter with a 13-3 run for a 24-14 advantage over the Stallions. The T.I.P. squad continued their hot streak in the second quarter, scoring 36 points and ending the half with an impressive 60-30 lead.

The third frame saw more of the same confident Engineers, who at one point led by as much as 40-points, 78-38, with 4:44 left during the quarter.

Senegalese center Papa Ndiaye led the way for the T.I.P. Engineers with 26 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Bryan Santos contributed 18 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Ivan Santos added 17 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one block, and Christian Daguro dished out 10 points and three assists.

“We won because we were more intent to do our best to compete the right way,” commented T.I.P. Engineers head coach Potit De Vera who has been coaching the team since 2012. “Though we won this first game, this season will be very challenging due to the very high experience level of our competition. Rest assured the T.I.P. Engineers will always play with honor and heart for our T.I.P. family.”

“I also dedicate our win in our first-ever PBA D-League game to my hero, my dad,” added Coach De Vera, whose father, Antonio De Vera, passed away two days before the T.I.P. Engineers’ PBA D-League debut.
